About three years ago I learned how to make an origami crane, and ever since I’ve enjoyed folding them. I fold them while watching the baseball game, I fold napkins and receipts into cranes at restaurants, I fold them to procrastinate, etc… Recently I took to attempting smaller and smaller cranes, the smallest of which I posted on Instagram sitting atop a Lego block. I sent the pictures to my wife, who tweeted it, and it went viral. The attention on social media has inspired me to make more tiny cranes, which I’m now documenting on an Instagram account. I […]

Bordnick’s work has been commissioned by Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair, after all. She’s shot portraits of many famous celebrities — Angela Lansbury, Marcel Marceau and Jennifer Garner, among them. Yet she was cowed at the prospect of taking a portrait of her parents. “My father was very intimidating — charming, but intimidating,” she says. So Bordnick enlisted the help of her mother, who knew just what to do to lighten the mood: She […]

Image: hp officejet pro Bryan Cush, owner of bespoke Melbourne furniture company Sawdust Bureau, can make a lot of things. Compromises arent one of them. The Belfast, Ireland-born graduate architect worked in Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Austria before setting up shop in Australia. He became disillusioned with commercial architecture while working for builders who emphasized cost savings over quality; in 2012, he decided to go it alone. After a few years of tinkering with potential designs in a collaborative Melbourne wool-store studio, Cush received a start-up business grant from the city of Melbourne in 2015. Crisman thought this woman would be an ideal subject for a portrait.  So, the Pennsylvania-native went to Philly to shoot the woman, Heather Marold Thomason, in her butcher shop.  “During our shoot, Heather, my producer Robert Luessen and I had some great conversations about women working in traditionally male-dominated fields,” Crisman told The Huffington Post. “From that conversation we thought that might make a good project or […]

From the George Foreman grill to George Clooney’s tequila, celebrity sells. Rarely has a sale been as lucrative as the $1 billion the actor and two partners could fetch for Casamigos, the tequila brand they founded only four years ago. Financial analysts frowned, saying the numbers don’t add up for the buyer, London-based distiller Diageo Plc. To some marketers, however, the deal made more […]
